I received lots of great responses to the last newsletter I sent out, but the question that intrigued me the most was in reference to the fact that I have been living as an expat for the past five years.
Hi Christine ~ thank you so much for Cross Current, I look forward to diving in. As a former Ft Lauderdale-ite, I can vicariously visit my old hometown and have a great story to read, as well. I worked on boats in the early 80's so I know the waterways and still my favorite watering hole, the Downtowner (also worked at Shirttail Charlie's for 10 years, the DT was our happy hour spot). I am so happy that you're building a boat and enjoying your time in Turkey. I definitely am putting it on my bucket list, it looks beautiful and a joyous place to expat, or just visit! Someday....*sigh*
I arrived in Lauderdale in the early 80's as well. It was so different back then. Remember the New River Raft Race? Oh, I know that water balloons are terrible for the turtles, but man that was fun, eh? I hope you enjoy the book!
As you now have your sights on future adventures and travel in your boat, it is a perfect time to look back and reflect on how you got started building boat in Turkey. You are reaching a crossroad.

I do indeed! So many great memories of my old hometown, now it's a concrete jungle. Sad😕

Indeed. And I suspect I can hear Rick saying it’s about time.
CK, classmate, you have not lost but sharpened your storytelling and visible word pics.
Thanks John. Your choice of the word storytelling means so much to me. That’s what I have always dreamed of doing.
