Thanks James. I feel so fortunate to live in an era when most of us have a better camera in our pockets than any of us have ever owned in our lives.

Good to hear you have found such a lovely spot to spend the summer. It seems to be helping the creative juices flow.

Love the pictures.

To think I lived in Virginia for so long, spent summers in Norfolk when my dad was on active duty, and never visited Portsmouth. I’m going back to see it some day. Truly appreciate you sharing this community. The little library kind of made me sad... Lahaina had one like it. 😢 I’ve read a bunch of mystery novels re open seas and sailing, but none of it was near the quality of your books. Charles Dougherty comes to mine. All seemed to have strong fighting women and male special forces friends. 😂 Left those far behind a while ago. Thank goodness! Was wondering if he was an author you threw against the wall! Was going for the free book, how nice of you to offer, but of course I had already bought it. My niece is an aspiring author and I will share it with her. Thanks so much for sharing your adventures. How cool that Tim is there! All my best to you and Wayne.

Thanks for your lovely comment. Yes, the little libraries are always a sign of a great community. My heart is aching so over what happened to Lahaina. That is where I met my first husband back in 1975. I was living there and working as a seamstress for a shop on Front Street. Jim came in and asked me to make a pair of shorts for him out of an old sail. I thought it was a pretty dumb idea (breathability, chafe anyone?), but when I found he was headed to the South Pacific, I asked if he needed crew. So, Jim and I sailed off to Hilo, then the Marquesas, and eventually down to New Zealand and back. About two years later, we returned and lived and worked on Oahu for a year. During that time, we sailed back to Lahaina and got married in the courthouse there overlooking the Banyan Tree.

I know these streets well! I grew up in Olde Towne and worked at Tidewater Yacht when I was 15. Thank you for the stroll down memory lane.

I am reading the Kydd Sea Adventures by Julian Stockwin. It's a 25 book series about a young man pressed into the British Navy during their wars with France and how Kydd rises in rank to admiral.

I know of those books, but I haven't read any of them. I think I have a couple of them on my Kindle already and on my TBR list. Thanks for the recommendation!

I would love to live in that witchy apartment, as long as I could use that gorgeous porch! If you’re visiting Norfolk, the museum at Hampton University is wonderful, and houses my favorite Tanner painting, “The Banjo Lesson.”

Thanks so much for that recommendation! We got ourselves a car here (first time owning a car in years), and I occasionally take days off to explore. I will certainly add that to the list of places I want to see.

Monitor. Merrimack. Now -- Mobius. Hope to be visiting that area soon... and hoping for a glimpse of Mobius. Thanks for your updates, Christine. Thanks also for the free book, as I hope to introduce Seychelle to a couple of ladies who would like her, and also would like to visit that area of the Chesapeake properly.

Thank you so much for spreading the word about Seychelle. It helps feed the cruising kitty. And while we might not be an Ironclad, Mobius is definitely in the metal boat family.
